September 2024

Updated: Oct 11

Welcome to our very first newsletter! We are excited to share the highlights of September at New You Hair Academy, where we are dedicated to supporting our young learners who are not in mainstream education. Our mission is to close the educational gap by providing a blend of vocational training, GCSE preparation, and enriching life experiences.

At the core of New You Hair Academy's mission are values centred around educational empowerment, holistic development, and practical application of knowledge. By offering an industry-relevant curriculum and hands-on training, the academy ensures that learners are not only prepared for future employment opportunities but also equipped with essential life skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. With over two decades of experience in the industry, Lisa Robertson leads the academy in its quest to re-engage young learners through the transformative power of hairdressing.

What We’ve Achieved This Month

Model Days Success

This month, our learners successfully completed three model days! These real-life experiences allow students to refine their skills in hairdressing and beauty therapy, building their confidence and expertise as they progress in their courses.

Level 1 Qualification Progress

Our learners have embarked on their journey toward their Level 1 qualification. This month’s focus has been on the Health and Safety unit, where they’ve been learning about key topics such as COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and the importance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). These lessons are vital for their professional development and safety awareness.

Team-Building Through Enrichment Activities

We believe in the power of team spirit, and to foster this, our learners have been enjoying enrichment activities including horse riding and bowling. These activities not only help build teamwork and friendships but also provide a refreshing break from classroom-based learning.

Academic Progress

Some of our full-time learners have made incredible strides in their GCSE studies. It’s been rewarding to see them engage with the well-structured lessons, appreciating the effort put into planning and providing tailored support to help them achieve their academic goals.

Looking Ahead:

As we approach the end of the half term, we are excited about what’s to come. Our learners are on track to complete Unit 1, a significant milestone in their course. And as a reward for their hard work, we’ll be celebrating with an exciting trip to Alton Towers next month! It’s a great opportunity for the learners to bond and celebrate their progress.

Thank you for your continued support of New You Hair Academy. We look forward to sharing more updates next month as we continue our journey of learning, growth, and positive change.
