OUR STORY

Style - Learn -Thrive

Welcome to New You Hair Academy (NYHA)

Where we’re redefining alternative provision education in Nottingham. Located in the heart of Bulwell, we are more than just a hair dressing academy, we’re a vibrant community of learners, dreamers, and doers, committed to unlocking the potential in every young person who walks through our doors.

Our academy is a haven for transformation, offering young people the chance to develop vocational skills in hairdressing while gaining invaluable life skills and academic qualifications. Whether it’s mastering the art of hairstyling, building employability skills, or making strides in English and Maths, our students are empowered to step into brighter futures.

What Sets Us Apart?

At NYHA, we believe education should be inspiring, dynamic, and inclusive. Alongside our core hairdressing curriculum, we take our learners on exciting enrichment adventures from horse riding and climbing to team-building activities that boost confidence and resilience.

We’re proud to work closely with organisations like CGL, introducing our learners to essential topics such as sexual health and drug awareness. Our partnership with the AP Task Force from Raleigh Trust adds another layer of support, offering speech and language assistance, counseling, family support, and restorative practices to ensure every learner is fully supported on their journey.

Leadership with Purpose

Our success is built on strong leadership and a shared vision for excellence.

Under the guidance of Harvey Schofield and Lisa Robertson, our visionary Company Directors, and Oliver Sillito, our dedicated Governor, NYHA is setting new standards for alternative education. Harvey’s expertise in education and bespoke system design ensures our state-of-the-art tracking tools showcase each learner’s attendance, progress, and attainment in a clear, user-friendly format. Lisa’s extensive experience in hairdressing and her passion for empowering young people drive our innovative approach to combining vocational training with personal development. Together, Harvey and Lisa lead a team dedicated to transforming lives through innovation, care, and a commitment to excellence.

A Legacy of Transformation

NYHA is a passion project born from a love for hairdressing and a desire to give back to the community. My journey (Lisa Robertson) began at the age of 15, sweeping floors in a bustling Bulwell salon. Over the years, I climbed the ranks, managing a thriving salon for over five years and training countless young stylists, many of whom have gone on to travel the world, pursuing careers they once only dreamed of.

For the past decade, I balanced running my mobile hairdressing business with raising two amazing daughters. Now, I’m turning the page to a new chapter, one where I can give back to the community that gave me so much.

At NYHA, we believe that growing up in a deprived area doesn’t limit your potential, it fuels your determination. Our mission is to discover and nurture the strong-willed, capable individuals who often go overlooked.

Results Speak for Themselves

With attendance rates among the highest in the city and superb parental engagement, we’re already making huge waves. Our parents and commissioning bodies know they’re not just partners in education, they’re integral to our success.

So, why choose NYHA?

We don’t just educate, we inspire.

We don’t just teach hairdressing, we transform lives..................And we’re just getting started.

Student Admissions

Securing a place at our school is the start of an exciting journey for students and their families.

We work closely with referrers to ensure each placement is tailored to the individual needs of the young person, because let’s face it, no two students are the same (and we wouldn’t have it any other way!).

Whether it’s rekindling a love for learning or discovering new talents, we’re here to help students thrive in an environment that celebrates progress, not perfection. Ready to take the next step?
