November 2024

Welcome to our November newsletter! This month has been packed with highlights, learning, and plenty of laughter. Here's a recap of what we’ve been up to:

What We’ve Achieved in November

Snowy Days and Stylish Threads

The first snow of the season arrived, and we made the most of it with a day of fun and frosty adventures. From sledging to building snowmen, our students enjoyed a well-deserved break from studies. Our learners also designed their own jumpers and visited the local printers 'Lionheart Print' to see how they’re printed. The results were fantastic. We’re all proudly rocking our new gear and loving how they turned out!

CGL - Online Awareness, then Cake and Candles for a special birthday

We had the privilege of hosting a visit from CGL to deliver an important session on online safety awareness. Our learners were engaged and gained valuable insights into staying safe in the digital world. We also celebrated the birthday of one of our students this month, such a lovely day and we are so proud to be apart of these special moments with our learners.

New Team Members

We’re thrilled to introduce Harris, our new staff member, and Molly, the dog, who has quickly become everyone’s favourite companion. Their presence has brought even more positivity to our space, and Molly’s wagging tail is a constant reminder of the joy she brings to our learners.

Hairdressing Accomplishments

This month, our learners completed Unit 3 which is Customer Skills. They’ve made great progress, and we’re excited to see their confidence grow in this area. Even Harvey joined in and picked up some new skills. Proof that learning never stops, haha!

Skills for Life: CVs, Physical Health and Cakes

Our Year 11 learners have been hard at work building their CVs and exploring their next steps with a trip to Denewood Academy to learn about opportunities within HMRC. Our baking sessions were not only fun, but full of learning opportunities. From teamwork to measurements, the kitchen became a hub for skill-building and creativity. We also got to work off some of those cookies :)

We got festive with decorations and Arts and Crafts

Our students channeled their creativity into making Christmas presents during our Arts and Crafts days. The salon is also now officially decked out in Christmas decorations and our learners had a fantastic time transforming the space into a winter wonderland, bringing festive cheer to everyone who walks through our doors.

PSHE: Respect and Cultural Awareness

In PSHE, we’ve been exploring themes of respect, discrimination, and cultural awareness. Learning about other cultures has sparked meaningful discussions and broadened our learners’ perspectives.

Outstanding Feedback

One of our referrers shared glowing feedback about the remarkable turnaround we’ve achieved with their student. Hearing how positively we’ve impacted their journey motivates us to keep striving for excellence.

Thank you and we can't wait to get underway with December :)
