March has been a fantastic month at NYHA.

After the intensity of exam season, it has been wonderful to see our learners enjoying a balance of creativity, practical learning, enrichment, and continued academic success.

Hairdressing Skills in Full Bloom

Our learners have been developing their practical hairdressing skills by practising:

  • Semi-permanent colouring
  • Blow-drying techniques
  • Roller setting
  • Working confidently on dolly heads

The progress we are seeing in both confidence and technical ability is outstanding.

Lisa has also continued to deliver expert demonstrations, ensuring students are fully prepared and supported in their vocational learning.

Beauty Brilliance

Beauty sessions have continued to flourish this month. Students have revisited eyebrow treatments and produced some stunning nail art designs.

Their creativity and precision are improving every week, and the quality of work being produced is genuinely impressive.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

We marked St. Patrick’s Day with themed activities and plenty of green around the salon.

The students had great fun incorporating the occasion into their practical and creative work.

Easter Fun – NYHA Style

We also celebrated Easter in true NYHA fashion, creating decorated Easter eggs and enjoying some seasonal arts and crafts.

These activities provided a brilliant opportunity for creativity, relaxation, and relationship building—particularly with some of our newer students, who are settling in really well.

Enrichment Adventures

This month we enjoyed visits to both Newstead Abbey and Wollaton Park.

These trips gave our learners the opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and take part in experiences that broaden their horizons.

The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed both visits.

CV Writing and College placements

Our Year 11 learners have been working hard on their CVs and preparing for life after NYHA.

We are delighted that students now have completed CVs and secured college placements, giving them a clear and exciting pathway for their future.

Gymnastics and Physical Wellbeing

Physical activity remains an important part of our curriculum, and this month we introduced gymnastics.

Students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, demonstrating confidence, balance, and determination.

Functional Skills Success

Alongside all the practical and creative work, Lisa has continued to support students in preparing for and passing their Level 1 Functional Skills qualifications.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment and effort shown by all learners.

Art and Creativity in the Salon

With exam season behind us, there has been a wonderful creative atmosphere around the salon.

Students have enjoyed making flowers, designing artwork, and expressing themselves through a range of artistic activities. It has been a fantastic way to unwind while continuing to develop fine motor skills and creativity.

Thank you to our staff, students, parents, and carers for your continued support.

Best wishes,
The New You Hair Academy Team
