June has been one of the most memorable and emotional months at NYHA. We said goodbye to our Year 11 learners, some of whom have been part of the academy for two years, and celebrated their journey with a hugely successful hair show shared with families, learners and staff.
A Hair Show to Remember
The Year 11 hair show gave learners the opportunity to present their creative work with confidence and pride. The room was filled with families and supporters, and the atmosphere reflected the commitment, skill and personal growth that learners have shown throughout their time with us.
It was a joyful event, but an emotional one too. There were tears from learners, parents and staff as everyone recognised how far the group had come and what it meant to reach this important moment together.
Celebrating Our Year 11 Learners
Presentations were made during the event to recognise the learners and celebrate their achievements. The feedback from families was incredibly positive, with heartfelt thanks for the support, encouragement and opportunities learners have received at NYHA.
For some of our Year 11s, this farewell marked the end of two years with us. It has been a genuine privilege to watch them develop their practical skills, confidence, resilience and belief in what they can achieve.
Tools for the Future
As they move on to their next steps, we hope each learner takes more than practical hairdressing knowledge with them. We hope they carry forward the confidence to try, the resilience to keep going, the ability to work with others and a stronger sense of their own potential.
Welcoming Our New Cohort
Alongside the Year 11 celebrations, we have begun welcoming members of our new cohort and helping them settle into life at NYHA. Learners have started exploring hair styling and beauty through practical, supported sessions.
Early activities have included hair washing, sectioning, styling and introductory beauty work such as manicure practice. These sessions help learners become familiar with salon routines, communication and the patience needed to develop new skills.
Looking Ahead
June has been a month of endings and new beginnings.
We are immensely proud of our Year 11 learners and grateful to the families who trusted us to be part of their journey. At the same time, we are excited to support our new cohort as they begin building their own skills and ambitions.
To our Year 11s, THANK YOU for everything you brought to NYHA. It has been an absolute pleasure, and we wish every one of you the very best for the future.
