As March wraps up, we’re feeling incredibly proud of the progress, experiences, and growth we’ve seen across New You Hair Academy this month.

From sports to reading, enrichment to reintegration, there’s a lot to celebrate.

Here are this month’s highlights:

Getting Active

We’ve introduced badminton and gym sessions as part of our growing sports offer, and the response has been fantastic! Every learner has been eager to get involved. As a result, we’re now looking to embed physical activity into our curriculum more permanently.

1-1 Growth and Impact

Our 1-1 provision is growing steadily, helping us reach the hardest-to-reach young people. The feedback from parents and commissioners has been amazing, and we’re focused on continuously improving this part of our service to close the attainment gaps for learners who’ve missed out on education.

Hairdressing in Full Swing

As always, hairdressing has been busy and buzzing! It’s been amazing to watch our young people learning valuable skills, not just in the salon but through the crossovers into Maths, English, and life. It’s a true reminder of how powerful vocational learning can be for engagement and confidence.

Adventures in the Outdoors

This month’s Peak District trip was a huge hit! Our learners were stunned by the beauty of the outdoors—one said, “It looks like I’m looking through a VR headset!” and another, “I can’t wait to drive back here one day.” It just goes to show the impact of real-world enrichment experiences.

Animal Encounters

We also visited local farms, and it was a joy to see learners feeding animals and learning about their care. These hands-on experiences bring learning to life in such a memorable way.

A Walk Through History – City of Caves

Our visit to Nottingham’s City of Caves opened our learners’ eyes to the rich history right beneath their feet! There were laughs, curiosity, and a lot of “Wow, I didn’t know that!” moments—history definitely came alive on this trip.

A Learner Reintegrating to Mainstream!

We’re so proud to share that one of our learners is preparing to return to mainstream school! The work they’ve put in, and the support they’ve received, has helped them feel ready, confident, and positive about education again. We’ll continue to support them during this transition and beyond.

Big News – New Building Secured!

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve secured a new building, and work is already underway to open in September 2025.

This expansion will allow us to reach even more young people in need of the care, education, and support NYHA provides.
